SHORT BREAKS WITH A DIFFERENCE (and some unusual neighbours!)
What France magazine say: click here*
3 hours from Calais
Enjoy a unique stay in a comfortable lodge among wild animals at a Safari
  Park  in Normandy
Flexibility of self-catering with the freedom of your own car
Ferry crossing included in price
An affordable adventure for young and old alike
No need to travel thousands of miles to spend a night on the plains of the African savannah you can enjoy the experience just across the channel in Normandy. Situated only an hours drive from the ferry port of Caen, 2 hours from Paris, and approximately 3.5 hours from Calais in the heart of the Pays D’Auge region of Normandy, France, this is a great location for a short break with a difference or for adding a most unusual en-route stay to or from your main holiday.
SAFARI LODGES IN NORMANDY You will stay in an eco-friendly timber lodge, raised on stilts and situated on the edge of an award winning zoological park. The Safari Lodges sleep up to 6 and comprise of a spacious lounge with wicker seating and sofa bed. TV, Kitchenette with 2 burner hob, microwave oven/grill and fridge. Double bedroom, shower room (bed lien and towels provided). A wooden staircase leads past African style wall hangings to an open mezzanine with 2 single beds. The lodges have air conditioning or heating if visiting in the cooler months. They are tastefully decorated to mirror the wildlife theme and you will appreciate the attention to detail from the eco-friendly solar panels for hot water to the themed crockery. Large glass doors opening onto your veranda give a panoramic view to the safari park or maybe a spectacular sunset. suite parentale
There are also a small number of Premium Lodges overlooking Monkey Island which are identical to the Safari Lodges but have the addition of a larger double bedroom with en-suite shower room and a twin bedroom on the ground floor
This is a holiday with something for all ages and great for families of different generations to get together for a few days. The lodges are suitable for people with reduced mobility, 2 have wheelchair access and if travelling with a baby, cot, high chair and bath can be hired. safari village
The Safari village overlooks a small valley and lake where Indian Rhinoceros, Antelopes, and Siamong Gibbons live only a few metres away. There is a mini farm with goats, alpacas and miniature pigs and small inoffensive animals such as Wallaby and Deer roam freely around the lodges. The lake is home to many exotic birds such as Pelicans, Cranes and Ibis, join the keeper at feeding time and learn some interesting anecdotes! From your private terrace you will enjoy the privilege of observing exceptional sights and sounds any time of day (or night) as the animals feed and play. This is a place of calm in harmony with nature.

A pathway around the lodges leads to the reception area where friendly English speaking staff will help you get the most from your stay with advice on the Safari Park and places of interest, including local produce and markets. Continental breakfast is served in the reception pavilion or you can order fresh bread and croissants to enjoy al-fresco watching the animals from your own veranda. A short stroll further along the pathway and you arrive at the “La Pagode” restaurant and then the entrance to the park itself where 100 species, approximately 900 animals, live in 120 acres of natural surroundings. Take the safari train or walk around the park and expect to see lions, tigers, giraffes, bears, monkeys, kangaroos, zebras and panthers; the list is endless. Not to be missed is the “contact” area where young and old alike can feed and play with animals such as the miniature mountain goats.

Animals take precedence here, their keepers working towards their preservation with a structured breeding programme for the rare and endangered species. Exclusive to resident guests is the opportunity to take part in various activities to learn more about the animals and their daily care.
If you stay a little longer in this unique atmosphere you will find other places of interests close by. The safari village is located on the outskirts of Lisieux with its white Byzantine basilica of Ste Therese, (one of the largest churches built anywhere in the world in the 20th century). The coastal resorts of Deaville, Trouville and Honfleur are within 20 miles or you can enjoy the beautiful countryside of the Pays d’Auge region with its pretty houses, “cider route” and “cheese villages” numerous cycle tracks and golf courses.
Remember, however you spend your day, the park is always on your doorstep to visit the exotic animals and enjoy the unique experience of staying somewhere away from city noise, surrounded by nature and the magical world of wildlife.
Our visitors comments say it all night over the lake

I just wanted to drop you a line to say how brilliant our short stay at the safari lodges was. I can’t think of anywhere better to take our animal mad children. The lodges are comfortable enough, but the real attractions are the animals all around. Sitting on the balcony as the sun goes down watching rhinos, gazelles and gibbons is just magical. The high point though was the behind the scenes Privilege tour with the conservation officer  which was mind blowing for all of us. I’ve never been that close to a rhino before, let alone stroked it. The children almost burst with excitement, especially when Bambi the hand reared deer came up to them to be stroked (being a few feet from a lion seemed a little tame after that). Thanks also to the lovely English lady at reception who organized deliveries of fresh bread and croissants during the stay. A nice touch. We hope to return in a couple of years and have recommended you to all our friends.

This is just to say what a wonderful holiday we have just had on this safari in France. It was more than we hoped for. Everything about this holiday was excellent. Thank you for all your help in booking this holiday and for the excellent service that we received all round.
